starlight drowning

for Anya

It fell, the touch, as starlight's flight,
so fast, so soft, so soul trembling light
And filled my heart to drowning love
never to return, never to be seen again.

you stood, in morning sunlight grandeur,
a curve, a smile, a finger's touch, a gentle move -
time stood and did not move, my breath,
my heart, both failed and in your eyes
they died a last warm death of love.

confusion reigns the day and tremors
wake the night with whispers of your name -
when lost in songs and speed that melts
away the world to help forget

your perfect kiss and perfect touch,
which haunt like emerald stones in river thrown
so precious in one second yet in storm of life
lost, in the blink of time, forever drowned.

the sunlit sky ablaze, down on the water's curve:
a lonely planet welcomes yet another night,
in which, seeking a friend lost and left behind
the wind carries my silent wish out to your resting lips.

the song of souls, the dance of hearts:
a mystery, a vision past, like dream -
how loving can be lost at moment's flight
to turn away and never to be felt again.
